rj K -1F .70 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL JOINT MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />AND THE <br />CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY COLLEGE BOARD <br />OFTRUSTEES <br />-1/ <br />#**'k.:i:**#*****#*:K%k**#******A;*m:k*****X~k**#kW.k##*:k**~k**:k*~k %k##*~k*:k#*****#*** <br />DECEMBER 18, 2000 <br />A special joint meeting between the Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, and the Central Carolina Community College Board of <br />Trustees, convened at 5:00 p.m., at the Dennis Wicker Civic Center on Nash Street, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. <br />Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, <br />and John 1. Sauls. <br />Chairman Hincks called the Board of Commissioners meeting to order and the <br />following business was transacted. <br />The Board considered a request from Tax Administrator Roger Kelley to amend <br />the cwrent contract with the City of Sanford for collection of taxes by increasing the fees <br />from S3.00 per bill to I Yz°/o of the amount collected. He told the Board that the County <br />currently collects the rental vehicle tax for the city at a rate of I V2% of the taxes <br />collected. He told the Board that he had surveyed thirteen counties and found that only <br />one county did not charge a fee, two counties charged $2.00 per bill, eight charged I Y2%, <br />one charged I`A, and one charged 54.15 per bill adjusted annually with the CPI. After <br />some discussion, Commissioner Paschal moved to accept the recommendation of Mr. <br />Kelley and for the County Manager to negotiate a cost of 1 '/2% of the taxes collected for <br />real and personal property. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Ave: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and SanIS <br />Nay: Notre <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The meeting recessed and the Board joined the Central Carolina Conunuuity <br />College (CCCC) Board of Trustees for dinner. Immediately following limier, CCCC <br />President Dr. Marvin Joyner opened the joint meeting. Dr. Joyner and members of his <br />staff reviewed the college's critical needs and discussed proposed renovation and <br />construction projects. Dr. Joyner asked that the Comity commit to a local match of <br />p1?8 <br />
