0 0 <br />Gi,0\ 8 P'GE ~i <br />The Board heard a report from Cooperative Extension Director John Hall <br />concerning the impact of State budget reductions as it relates to his department. Mr. Hall <br />told the Board that the hiring of all State positions was frozen in October 2000. Currently <br />he has one frozen position in his department for a horticulturist. No action was taken on <br />the matter. <br />The Board considered recommendations from the Planning Board. Planner <br />Althea Thompson told the Board that at the last meeting the Planning Board was asked to <br />consider provisions to the zoning ordinance for landscaping and buffering requirements. <br />Mrs. Thompson told the Board that the Planning Board had been provided a copy of the <br />landscaping and buffering standards that have been proposed in the Unified Development <br />Ordinance and Sanford's Scenic Corridor requirements. Planning Board members had <br />also received copies of the City of Sanford and Town of Broadway buffer standards. She <br />told the Board that it was the consensus of the Planning Board that the proposal in the <br />Unified Development Ordinance, which is still in draft form, is somewhat stringent. The <br />Planning Board agreed that buffers are needed between different land uses in Lee County <br />as well as streetscape plantings along the County's major corridors. She further told the <br />Board that the Planning Board recommended the adoption of the Town of Broadway's <br />provisions for buffering and screening and the adoption of Sanford's Scenic Corridor <br />requirements. After some discussion, Commissioner Matthews moved to schedule a <br />public hearing on proposed changes to the Lee County Zoning Ordinance for Monday, <br />March 19, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hineks, Lenunond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and SaLlls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chaimran ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board heard an update from Tax Administrator Roger Kelley concerning the <br />re-evaluation process. Mr. Kelley told the Board that currently lie is working on <br />neighborhoods such as Highway #1 and the Tramway area that have changed drastically <br />since the last re-evaluation. He is also working on sales verifications and land sales, and <br />he expects notices of values to be mailed out in December 2002. No action was taken on <br />the matter. <br />The Board considered an incentive agreement between the County of Lee and the <br />Lee County Economic Development Corporation. Economic Development Director Bob <br />Heuts ask that the Board schedule a public hearing concerning an incentive agreement for <br />The Pantry Offices for $ 1.5 million. Commissioner Reives moved to hold a public <br />hearing on March 19, 2001, for 7:00 p.m. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />03 <br />3 <br />
