0 Cui;x P!GE 320 1 0 <br />SEVERE NVEATHER AWARENESS NVEEK <br />2001 <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, dangerous and destructive weather, such as tornadoes, <br />thunderstorms, lightning, hail, winds and flash floods, killed or injured hundreds of <br />people in the Southeast last year, and <br />WHEREAS, these weather events annually cause millions of dollars in damage to <br />crops and buildings; and <br />WHEREAS, the safety of its citizens is the foremost concern of government at all <br />levels in every State; and <br />WHEREAS, weather occurrences are not limited to geographic or political <br />boundaries; and <br />WHEREAS, the States of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina <br />and Tennessee desire to work with the state of North Carolina in joint public safety <br />educational effort intended to safeguard our citizens; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, <br />does hereby proclaim February 18-24, 2001, as "SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS <br />WEEK" in Lee County, and urges all citizens to participate in its observance by learning <br />what they can do to protect themselves, their loved ones and their property when severe <br />weather threatens our State. <br />ADOPTED THIS 14TH DAY OF FEBRUARY 2001. <br />(2~~Q <br />Herbert A.
