6u0X 18 PIGE 325 <br />Community Development Director Ron Satterfield and Planner Mandy Metcalf <br />discussed the Unified Development Ordinance. They told the two Boards that the final <br />draft should be ready for adoption in December. Much discussion took place concerning <br />the number of Ordinances to be drafted and planning boards to be appointed. After <br />much discussion, the general consensus of both Boards was to have only one Ordinance <br />and one plauming board. <br />Mayor Winston Hester discussed the possibility of creating one countywide <br />police department. He told the Board's that now would be an ideal time to start talking <br />about this merger since the Sheriff plans on running in only one more election and the <br />Police Chiefs from Sanford and Broadway are planning to retire in the near future. <br />After some discussion, it was decided that a committee would be appointed which would <br />be made up of three County Commissioners, three City Council members, and one <br />Broadway Commissioner. The committee would study the issue and more individuals <br />would be appointed if needed. <br />City Manager Leonard Barefoot discussed airport revenue. He told the Board's <br />that since the City of Sanford had contributed equally in the development of the new <br />airport lie felt they should receive some of the revenue. After some discussion, it was <br />decided that the County Manager, City Manager, County Attorney K. R. Hoyle, and City <br />Attorney Susan Patterson would meet to study the situation and make a recommendation <br />to both Board's. <br />Chairman Hincks made a motion to go into closed session to discuss a land <br />acquisition. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lenmmond, Matthews, Paschal, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />City Council members also made a motion and went into closed session to <br />discuss a land acquisition with the County Commissioners. <br />After discussion had been completed in closed session, Commissioner Adams <br />moved for the Lee County Board of Commissioners to come out of the closed session. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />City Council members adjourned their meeting at this time. <br />2 <br />
