Senior Services Director Debbie Davidson stated that due to a publication error, North Carolina DOT was requiring the public hearing be held a se6ond time in order receive funds (first public hearing was held during the August 16, 2010 Commissioners meeting). Tax Administrator Dwane Brinson stated that a taxpayer had filed an exemption application with the Tax Office in August and was denied since, it was after the June 1" statutory deadline. North Carolina General Statute 105- 282.1 gives M, dv rning board authority to consider untimely exemption applications. Mr. Brinson was asking the Boa'r`,d deny the application due to not filing by June 1" without good cause. After discussion, Commissioner Kelly moved to approve the application submitted for a 2010 Homestead Exemption and deny the Tax Administrators recommendation.
