® HOK 18 P'CE 336 <br />RESOLUTION FOR VOTER IDENTIFICATION <br />AT ALL POLLING PLACES IN NORTH CAROLINA <br />WHEREAS, public confidence in our process of elections is <br />indispensable, and a lack of voter confidence creates doubt, voter apathy, <br />and undermines the respect of government; and, <br />WHEREAS, each citizen is guaranteed equal protection under the <br />law and has every right to believe that his or her vote is equal to anyone <br />else's; and <br />WHEREAS, convenience in voting can improve the engagement of <br />all the voters, but convenience should not cause danger to the integrity of the <br />election process; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners seeks to <br />protect the integrity of the election process and the soundness of each <br />citizen's vote. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lee County <br />Board of Commissioners endorses legislation requiring voter identification <br />at all polling places in North Carolina. <br />Adopted this the 19`h day of March 2001. <br />Flerbert A.
