On) <br />BON 18 PAGF X87 <br />The Board considered the County Manager's recommendation for the Capital <br />Improvement Program (CIP) for 2001/2002-2005/2006. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Sauls moved to approve the recommendations of the County Manager, a <br />copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives discussed with the Board honoring citizens turning one- <br />hundred (100) years old with a resolution. Ms. Eliza Hooker, a local Lee County citizen <br />turned 110 years old on May Vh. A resolution will be written and presented to her at the <br />Gay 90's Luncheon that will be held at the Enrichment Center on May 23, 2001. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved that the Department of Transportation (DOT) <br />conduct a traffic study for the placement of a stop light at the intersection of Greenwood <br />Road and Lemon Springs Road. She also requested that the study be conducted during a <br />school day when traffic is heavier. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chainman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Matthews discussed with the Board the closing of the local <br />Department of Revenue office and its relocation to Southern Pines. In April a letter was <br />received from Representatives Don Davis and Leslie Cox advising the consolidation and <br />relocation of various department field offices. The letter stated that the Rockingham and <br />Sanford field offices would be relocated to Southern Pines. Commissioner Matthews <br />expressed her dissatisfaction over the closing of the Sanford office and asked that a letter <br />be forwarded to local delegation members expressing this concern. Commissioner Sauls <br />asked that the Manager's Office contact the State Department of Revenue and obtain <br />information concerning the number of people that use the local office. After some <br />discussion, it was decided that this item would be placed on the May 21" agenda for <br />further discussion. No action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Paschal moved that the Board go into closed session to discuss <br />matters relating to the expansion of an industry in Lee County. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and SaulS <br />Nay: None <br />5 <br />
