BOM IS FACE 383 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OFTHE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA MAY 7, 2001 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 8:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and John 1. Sauls. Rev. James Estes delivered the invocation. Richard Hayes led the pledge of allegiance. The Board considered additional agenda items. County Manager William Cowan asked that the Board consider a health insurance renewal policy. Commissioner Reives asked that the Board consider a policy to recognize local citizens when they turn one- hundred years old. Commissioner Matthews asked that the Board forward a letter to the North Carolina Department of Transportation asking that a traffic light be placed at the intersection of Greenwood Road Lemon Springs Road. She also asked for discussion on the closing of the local Department of Revenue Office. Commissioner Lemmond moved to approve the addition of the above items to the agenda. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted Unanimously. Commissioner Adams moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted of the following items: • Minutes of the April 16, 2001 regular meeting • Renewal contract for inmate labor between the County of Lee and the North Carolina Department of Correction (copy attached) • Proclamation to declare May 5-12, 2001 as "National Safe Kids Week" (copy attached) • Consolidated annual renewal agreement for health services between the State of North Carolina and the Lee County Health Department 001 /A
