BOM IS FACE 383 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OFTHE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MAY 7, 2001 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 8:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillcrest <br />Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert <br />A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. <br />Reives, and John 1. Sauls. <br />Rev. James Estes delivered the invocation. <br />Richard Hayes led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. County Manager William Cowan <br />asked that the Board consider a health insurance renewal policy. Commissioner Reives <br />asked that the Board consider a policy to recognize local citizens when they turn one- <br />hundred years old. Commissioner Matthews asked that the Board forward a letter to the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation asking that a traffic light be placed at the <br />intersection of Greenwood Road Lemon Springs Road. She also asked for discussion on <br />the closing of the local Department of Revenue Office. Commissioner Lemmond moved <br />to approve the addition of the above items to the agenda. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted Unanimously. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted of <br />the following items: <br />• Minutes of the April 16, 2001 regular meeting <br />• Renewal contract for inmate labor between the County of Lee and the North <br />Carolina Department of Correction (copy attached) <br />• Proclamation to declare May 5-12, 2001 as "National Safe Kids Week" (copy <br />attached) <br />• Consolidated annual renewal agreement for health services between the State <br />of North Carolina and the Lee County Health Department <br />001 <br />/A <br />
