No action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Paschal stated that he had concerns about a deep hole on the side <br />of the road at the "Big Pocket Creek" on highway 42. He also stated that he had <br />received complaints concerning the intersection at Bruce Coggins Road and Hickory <br />House Road. Commissioner Matthews stated that she had received complaints about the <br />tall grass and shoulder of the road on McCormick Road. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Paschal moved that a letter be forwarded to the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation asking that they (1) repair the hole at the "Big Pocket <br />Creek" on highway 42, (2) conduct a study of the intersection at Bruce Coggins Road <br />and Hickory House Road for the temporary installation of a four-way stop sign, and (3) <br />cut grass and repair shoulders on McCormick Road. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follow: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered workers' compensation and property and liability <br />insurance coverage. Safety and Training Officer Bob Brown recommended that the <br />County contract with the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, Risk <br />Management Pools for Employee Workers' Compensation insurance at a cost of <br />875,268 and Traveler's Property Casualty Group for Worker's Compensation insurance <br />for volunteer firemen at a cost of 810,825. He also recommended that the County renew <br />the property and liability insurance coverage with Coregis Insurance Company, <br />represented by A. J. Gallagher & Company, for $147,007. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve the above recommendations. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered appointments to the steering committee for the <br />Greenwood Small Area Plan. The following individuals were nominated by various <br />board members: <br />Jean Reynolds <br />Bill Parrish <br />Frances Warner <br />John Payne <br />Mike Gaster <br />Tommy Brooks <br />5 <br />
