a A& n; 021 0 BU-0X t PAGE 4ti STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA ) AGREEMENT COUNTY OF LEE ) THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this the day of 2001, by and between the County of Lee, hereinafter referred to as "the County", and the Town of Broadway, hereinafter referred to as "the Municipality;" WITNESSETH: THAT WHEREAS, the Town of Broadway desires for Lee County, by and through its appointed tax collector, to collect current and delinquent municipal taxes by methods set forth in Chapter 105, Article 26 of the North Carolina General Statutes; and WHEREAS, the 'town of Broadway, by action of its Board of Commissioners, requested Lee County to collect current and delinquent ad valorem municipal property taxes and delinquent special assessments; and WHEREAS, Lee County, by action of the Board of Commissioners, has agreed to collect current and delinquent municipal taxes for the Town of Broadway; and WHEREAS, the County and the Municipality have reached an agreement concerning the collection of municipal ad valorem property taxes by the County and desire to reduce this agreement to writing; NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the payment hereinafter mentioned, the mutual promises herein contained, and the mutual benefits to result therefrom, the County and the Municipality agree as follows: Pursuant to the provisions of Article 20 of Chapter 160A of the General Statutes of North Carolina and North Carolina General Statute §153A-445, the County and Municipality agree as follows: 1. The term of this contract shall be from July 1, 2001 until June 31, 2002, and shall be renewed automatically thereafter unless terminated in writing by either party on or before the 31" day of December. 2. For the listing of property and the billing and collection of property taxes and garbage fees, excluding motor vehicles, in the Town of Broadway, the Municipality agrees to pay to County one percent (1%) of the amount of funds collected on or before June 30, 2002, and thereafter one and one-half percent (1.5%) of the amount collected. The County agrees to review this fee annually and to notify the Municipality of any increases/decreases by December I" prior to the July I" effective date.
