0 uGOR 18 raCE 406) 0101 <br />MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MAY 21, 2001 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 1:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners <br />J present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. <br />Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, and John 1. Sauls. Commissioner Robert T. Reives was <br />absent. <br />Rev. Herman Morris delivered the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Chairman Hincks requested that <br />the approval of the five-year State Facility Needs study for the Lee County Schools be <br />moved to the consent agenda. He also asked that the Board consider a Lease Agreement <br />between the County of Lee and the Lee County Arts and Community Center, Inc. for <br />additional property at the Arts Center. Commissioner Lemmond asked for an update <br />concerning the placement of an ATM machine at the courthouse. Commissioner <br />Paschal stated that he had highway matters he would like to discuss with the Board. <br />County Manager William Cowan asked that the Board consider a renewal agreement for <br />workers' compensation and property & liability insurance. Commissioner Matthews <br />moved to approve the addition of the above items to the agenda. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Lemmond moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted <br />of the following items: <br />• Minutes of the May 7, 2001 regular meeting <br />• Resolution to approve the addition of State Road 1192 to the State <br />Maintained System (copy attached) <br />• Tax Releases and Refunds for April 2001 (copy attached) <br />
