0 1 <br />t - <br />HUN i8 mE 4", ~ Q 1 <br />MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />JUNE 5, 2001 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 8:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners <br />present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lennnond, Nathan E. <br />Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and John I. Sauls. Commissioner Bertha L. Matthews was <br />not present. <br />Rev. Eugene Powers delivered the invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Chairman Hincks asked that a <br />budget work session be held immediately following the joint meeting with the Lee <br />County Board of Education. County Manager William Cowan asked that the Board hold <br />a closed session to discuss the location of a new industry in Lee County. He also asked <br />that the Board allow Economic Development Director Bob Hems to update the Board <br />on the proposed expansion of the Lee County Industrial Park and to set a date for a <br />public hearing. Commissioner Adams moved to approve the addition of the above items <br />to the agenda. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lenunond, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Matthews <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Matthews joined the meeting at this time. <br />Commissioner Lemmond read the resolution honoring the Sanford Moose Lodge <br />4386 for 75 years of service and presented the resolution to representatives from the <br />Lodge. <br />Commissioner Adams read the resolution honoring the Lee County Senior High <br />School Boys Baseball Team for winning the N. C. State 4A Division Baseball <br />Championship on May 27, 2001 and presented the resolution to Head Coach Charlie <br />Spivey. <br />
