Robert Bradham, and Ted Rabens. <br />The following individuals spoke in favor of the rezoning request: <br />Lynwood Coombs, 1426 Pine Forest Road <br />Ted Rabens, Right-of-Way Agent with the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation <br />Rev. Robert Bradham, 315 Edgewater Drive, Broadway <br />No one spoke in opposition to the rezoning request. <br />Chairman Hincks closed the public hearings. <br />The Board went into a budget work session to discuss the FY 2001-2002 budget. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Adams moved to include the following items in <br />the budget: <br />62" Toro riding mower (Operational Services) $ 9,700 <br />Soccer goals (Recreation) 2,000 <br />Aerator (Recreation) 5,500 <br />Paddleboat (Recreation) 1,500 <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, and Sauls <br />Nay: Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />The Board discussed the County Manager's recommendation for the Lee County <br />Board of Education for FY 2001-2002. Mr. Cowan told the Board that his recommended <br />appropriation to the Lee County Board of Education's current expense budget is <br />$9,193,874, a $268,000 increase, or 3% over the current fiscal year. The recommended <br />appropriation for capital outlay is $412,000, a $12,000 increase, or 3% over the current <br />fiscal year. After some discussion, Chairman Hincks moved to accept the <br />recommendation of the County Manager for the appropriations to the Lee County Board <br />of Education. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />By general consensus, the Board agreed to increase the tax rate from 75 cents per <br />hundred dollars to 78 cents per hundred dollars. <br />6 <br />
