The meeting recessed until 3:00 p.m. Upon returning at 3:00 p.m. with all Commissioners present, the meeting resumed. Chairman Hincks opened joint public hearings with the Lee County Planning Board that had been advertised for this date and time. Planner Althea Thompson told the Board that Charles Brown had filed a petition to rezone from Highway Commercial Conditional Use District to Residential Mixed District, a 100x 650lot located at 304 Country Estates Drive. No one spoke in favor of or in opposition to the request. Mrs. Thompson outlined the next rezoning petition by Ralph Spencer Smith to rezone from Residential Restricted District to Highway Commercial District, approximately 95 acres of land at 628 Amos Bridges Road and 95 acres of land at 632 Amos Bridges Road. No one spoke in favor of or in opposition to the request. Commissioner Sauls expressed concerns he had pertaining to the recently adopted ordinance for buffering requirements. The Planning Board was asked to study this ordinance and report back to the Commissioners at a later time. Mrs. Thompson outlined a rezoning petition by Jimmy Christopher of Ferrellgas to rezone from Light Industrial-Conditional Use District to Highway Commercial District, a 139.61' x 170' lot at 2913 Jefferson Davis Highway. No one spoke in favor of or in opposition to the request. Mrs. Thompson outlined the last petition by Lynwood Coombs to rezone from Residential Mixed District to Highway Commercial Conditional Use District, approximately .61 acres of land located at 1458 Pine Forest Road and 276 Christine Road. The request also includes an amendment to a Conditional Use Permit approved on January 4, 1999. Mrs. Thompson told the Board that in December 1999, a 1.06 acre lot at 1426 Pine Forest Road was rezoned to Highway Commercial Conditional Use District and a Conditional Use Permit was issued to Mr. Coombs for an automobile repair shop. The Department of Transportation acquired a large portion of Mr. Coombs lot due to the realignment of Rocky Fork Church Road for the US #1 widening project. This acquisition included the area on which Mr. Coombs repair shop is located, and he must move the metal building. G05 5
