Upon a vote, the results were as
follows:
Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives
Nay: None
Absent: Sauls
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the meeting
recessed.
Upon returning at 7:00 p.m. in courtroom #4 at the old Lee County Courthouse,
1400 S. Horner Blvd., the meeting resumed. Chairman Hincks called the meeting to
order. All Commissioners were present except Commissioner Sauls.
Don Kovasckitz, 911 Coordinator told the Board that due to recent 2000 census
data, the County needed to revise the boundaries of two of the four current voting
districts from which two of the seven county commissioners are elected. He
recommended to the board a map showing new boundary lines that would move 969
households from District 3 to District 1. According to State law, there can be no more
than 10% deviation between the two districts. The approved plan must be submitted to
the U.S. Justice Department in Washington D. C. for approval. and then to the Office of
the Attorney General.
Chairman Hincks opened the floor for public comments.
No one spoke in favor of or in opposition to the above recommendation.
7
