pooX L8 P~sE 480 0 0 2 <br />MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />JULY 9, 2001 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 1:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />J Government Center, 106 Hillerest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners <br />present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. <br />Matthews, and Nathan E. Paschal. Commissioners Robert T. Reives and John I. Sauls <br />were absent. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to go into closed session to discuss the possible <br />purchase of two vacant lots at the intersection of Maple and 8th Streets, and to instruct <br />county staff and negotiating agents on the position to be taken by the Board of <br />Commissioners in negotiating with the Lee County Board of Education over budgetary <br />matters. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, and Paschal <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Reives and Sauls <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives joined the meeting during the closed session. <br />Upon completing business in closed session, Commissioner Matthews moved to <br />go out of closed session. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Sauls <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Hincks recessed the meeting to the Gordon Wicker Conference Room <br />for a scheduled joint meeting with the Lee County Board of Education. <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle opened the joint meeting. <br />
