Gt~t~ <br />GGDX 1$ rr^„GE SO <br />In Witness Whereof, the chairman of each of the boards has executed the <br />foregoing stipulation in the name of his respective board, all by authority of said <br />board First duly given. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a matter pertaining to the Sanford-Lee County Regional <br />Airport. Airport member Bob Heuts told the Board that the Airport Authority needs to <br />purchase mowing equipment at the new airport. They have received documents for <br />execution of a grant for $166,667, which requires a local match of 516,667. The <br />estimated cost of equipment is 527,000, with a local commitment of $13,500, $6,750 <br />each from the City of Sanford and Lee County. Commissioner Reives asked if the <br />County would be allowed to borrow the mowing equipment if they contributed to the <br />purchase. After some discussion, Commissioner Paschal moved to approve the request <br />for a local match from Lee County of $6,750. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Matthews, Paschal, and Sauls <br />Nay: Lemmond and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />The Board considered approval of the Deep River Small Area Plan. Community <br />Development Director Ron Satterfield told the Board that the Planning Board had <br />discussed the following issues concerning this matter: <br />• Scope of the geographic area covered by the Deep River Small Area Plan <br />The 2020 Land Use Plan identifies five land use study areas and defines the <br />geographic boundaries for each individual area. <br />• Effect on existing zoning and land uses <br />The Deep River Small Area Plan was a policy document for guiding <br />growth and does not establish rules or change zoning. <br />• Adequate public education and notification of residents about the Deep <br />River Small Area Plan <br />• Lack of community support for the Deep River Small Area Plan <br />• Community involvement in the development of the Deep River Small Area <br />Plan <br />Five public workshops held to obtain public input <br />Generated a list of growth and development issues <br />List of goals representing what they would like the community to be like <br />Strategies to be used to reach goals identified <br />4 <br />
