eco~ 18 FacE 516 0 C 0 4 <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered a project that the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation is currently working on that involves the installation of a traffic signal at <br />Pendergrass Road and US 1, and the relocation of a portion of Westover Drive. District <br />Engineer Joe Clendenin discussed the $240,000 project and answered questions. After <br />some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to approve a resolution of support <br />endorsing the above project, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mr. Clendenin discussed with the board the annual Secondary Road Construction <br />Program for Lee County. He told the board that the Department of Transportation <br />proposes to utilize $220,000 of the Secondary Road Construction Funds and $165,000 of <br />the Secondary Road Trust Funds for a total of $385,000 to pave 2.57 miles of unpaved <br />roads in Lee County during the 2001-2002 fiscal year. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve a resolution approving the annual Secondary <br />Road Construction Program in Lee County, a copy of which is attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Public Works Director Kenny Cole gave the board an update on a recent space <br />needs study that was completed concerning the Health Department and Social Services <br />Department. He told the board that the Health Department is in need of additional space <br />at the Government Center. No action was taken on the matter. <br />The board considered a request from the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport <br />Authority for Lee County to take over all the accounting responsibility of the Authority. <br />County Manager William Cowan told the board that currently the City of Sanford <br />handles these responsibilities for $50.00 per hour. After some discussion, Commissioner <br />Adams moved for Lee County to begin handling all accounting needs for the Sanford-Lee <br />Regional Airport Authority at $50.00 per hour.
