U <br />GuOK i~ PAGE 534 <br />COUNTY OF LEE <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />The Lee County Board of Commissioners met on August 20, 2001 in regular meeting <br />and adopted the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, The North Carolina Department of Transportation anticipates a July 2001 <br />allocation of $232,073 in Secondary Road Construction Funds and <br />$183,475 in Secondary Road Trust Funds for a total of $415,548 in new <br />funds for the forthcoming construction season. <br />WHEREAS, The North Carolina Department of Transportation has a balance <br />remaining from closed work orders of $41,402 in Secondary Road <br />Construction Funds and $51,143 in Secondary Road Trust Funds for a total <br />unexpended balance of $92,545 for a Total of $508,093 available for the <br />forthcoming construction season and a public meeting was held on <br />August 20, 2001 in the Commissioner's Room of the Lee County <br />Government Center in Sanford concerning the expenditures of said <br />funds. <br />WHEREAS, The North Carolina Department of Transportation retains $27,713 in <br />Secondary Road Construction Funds and $22,645 in Secondary Road Trust <br />Funds for a total of $50,358 to be used for maintenance functions such as <br />spot stabilization, paved road improvements, replacement of small <br />bridge with pipe, and safety projects. <br />WHEREAS, It is proposed to retain $25,762 of Secondary Road Construction Funds <br />and $46,973 of Secondary Road Trust Funds for a total of $72,735 for small <br />projects that may arise during the year such as road additions, property <br />owner participation projects, volunteer fire department drives, county- <br />wide surveys, overdrafts, etc. <br />WHEREAS, It is proposed to utilize $220,000 of the Secondary Road Construction <br />Funds and $165,000 of the Secondary Road Trust Funds for a total of <br />$385,000 to pave 2.57 miles of unpaved road in Lee County during the <br />2001-2002 Fiscal Year. <br />WHEREAS, The North Carolina Department of Transportation proposes to pave the <br />following unpaved roads in Lee County as for as funding, right of way, <br />and environmental review will allow: <br />
