Aft
® 003
eoo~ A PG~F 587
that two census blocks in the Dreamland Mobile Home Park had been left out of the data
due to processing errors. He asked that the board approve a resolution asking that The
U.S. Census Bureau add this updated information to the census address list for use in
future statistical programs of the Census Bureau. After some discussion, Commissioner
Paschal moved to approve the following resolution:
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has been informed that the Census
2000 Housing Unit Data shows that stfd 371050305005001 shows zero (0) housing units
and stfid 371050305005000 shows only 89 housing units; and
WHEREAS, these two census blocks contain Dreamland Mobile Home Park and
surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners believes that such figures are
erroneous and directed that the Planning Department make a study of the area and
prepare a report of its findings as to the correct number of housing units in said census
block; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Department has submitted its report to the Board of
Commissioners and the Board is of the opinion that the discrepancy between the Housing
Unit Data and the Planning Department's findings justifies a challenge to the reporting
Housing Unit Data.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Lee
County, North Carolina, that the Chairnan is authorized and directed to submit for and
on behalf of the County, a challenge to The U.S. Census Bureau with respect to the
number of housing units reported in stfid 371050305005001 and stfid 371050305005000
and to submit as the basis for said challenge the materials and report prepared by the
Planning Department.
Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lenunond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
County Manager William Cowan asked that the board consider appropriating
additional funding to the Lee County Library for fiscal year 2001-2002. He told the board
that according to the State Library's Maintenance of Effort (MOE), operational funds
from local government sources must be at least equal to the amount budgeted the
previous year. If the MOE is not met, the State library will reduce State Aid
proportionately. He told the board that if $2,229 were put in their budget, they would be
able to receive their full State Aid allocation. Commissioner Reives moved to approve
the addition of $2,229 to the Lee County Library for FY 2001-2002. Upon a vote, the
results were as follows:
3
