eooz J8 PAGE 58 5 0 0 <br />MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />~k**~k**~k ~k ~k ~k*~k ~k***~k*W~k**#*~k#*~k:k*~k~*~k:k**#:k**:k~:k~k#-k*#~k*#~k*~k***~k#*#*~k ~k*****~k M~ <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 2001 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioner's <br />present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. <br />Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, and John 1. SanlS. Commissioner Robert T. Reives was <br />absent. <br />V <br />Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner John Sauls delivered the invocation. <br />Commissioner Bert Matthews read a prayer in reference to terrorists who <br />hijacked and destroyed four civilian aircraft, crashing two of them into the towers of the <br />World Trade Center in New York City, and another into the Pentagon outside <br />Washington, D.C., and a fourth in rural Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. <br />Commissioner Ed Paschal led the pledge of allegiance. <br />Commissioner Robert Reives joined the meeting at this time. <br />The board considered additional agenda items. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle <br />asked that the board consider a resolution challenging The U.S. Census Bureau in <br />reference to the number of housing units reported in two locations at Dreaniland Mobile <br />Home Park. Commissioner Paschal asked that the board discuss a possible countywide <br />"leash law." Commissioner Reivcs asked that the August 2, 2001 letter from Central <br />Carolina Community College (CCCC) President Dr. Marvin Joyner, in reference to <br />building a new CCCC campus on US 1, be included as part of the minutes of the August <br />20, 2001 regular meeting. County Manager William Cowan asked that the board <br />consider additional funding for the Lee County Library. Chairman Hincks asked that the <br />board discuss participating in brick donations for the new Deport Park. Commissioner <br />Adams moved to approve the above items to the agenda.
