eooz J8 PAGE 58 5 0 0 MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA ~k**~k**~k ~k ~k ~k*~k ~k***~k*W~k**#*~k#*~k:k*~k~*~k:k**#:k**:k~:k~k#-k*#~k*#~k*~k***~k#*#*~k ~k*****~k M~ SEPTEMBER 17, 2001 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioner's present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, and John 1. SanlS. Commissioner Robert T. Reives was absent. V Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted. Commissioner John Sauls delivered the invocation. Commissioner Bert Matthews read a prayer in reference to terrorists who hijacked and destroyed four civilian aircraft, crashing two of them into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and another into the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C., and a fourth in rural Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. Commissioner Ed Paschal led the pledge of allegiance. Commissioner Robert Reives joined the meeting at this time. The board considered additional agenda items. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle asked that the board consider a resolution challenging The U.S. Census Bureau in reference to the number of housing units reported in two locations at Dreaniland Mobile Home Park. Commissioner Paschal asked that the board discuss a possible countywide "leash law." Commissioner Reivcs asked that the August 2, 2001 letter from Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) President Dr. Marvin Joyner, in reference to building a new CCCC campus on US 1, be included as part of the minutes of the August 20, 2001 regular meeting. County Manager William Cowan asked that the board consider additional funding for the Lee County Library. Chairman Hincks asked that the board discuss participating in brick donations for the new Deport Park. Commissioner Adams moved to approve the above items to the agenda.
