The board conducted a joint public hearing with members of the Lee County Planning Board concerning a petition by Laverne Thornton to rezone from Residential Restrict District to Highway Commercial District, approximately 3.26 acres of land located at 104, 108, 112 and 116 Brady Road. Chairman Hincks opened the advertised joint public hearing. Laverne Thornton of 209 Olde Town Drive, Sanford, spoke in favor of the petition. No one spoke in opposition to the request. Chairman Hincks closed the public hearing. Human Resource Director Patsy Rogers and Library Director Mike Matochik gave reports concerning their departments. County Manager William Cowan asked that the board allow him to waive land field tipping fees from the recent ice storm if the federal government (FEMA) agrees to reimburse the county. After some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to allow the County Manager to waive tipping fees if FEMA agrees to reimburse counties. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Adams, Flineks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. There being no further business to come before the board, Commissioner Adams moved to adjourn the meeting.
