BOOR 19 FGGE t-'8 <br />MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />DECEMBER 16, 2002 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of <br />North Carolina, convened at 3:00 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present <br />were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. Matthews, <br />Nathan E Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and Amy L. Stevens. <br />Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Bert Matthews delivered the invocation and led the pledge of <br />allegiance. <br />The board considered additional agenda items. Chairman Hincks asked that the <br />board approve the appointment of Commissioner Chad Adams to the Lee County <br />Economic Development Board. Commissioner Adams asked that the matter concerning a <br />vacancy in the Investigative Division at the Sheriffs Department be moved from the <br />Consent Agenda to New Business. Commissioner Matthews asked to discuss the issuance <br />of credit cards to department heads. County Manager William Cowan asked that the board <br />approve the hiring of an Animal Control Officer in the Health Department. <br />Commissioner Adams moved to approve the agenda with the above changes. Upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nav: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Paschal moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted of <br />the following items: <br />• Minutes of the December 2, 2002 regular meeting <br />• Minutes of the December 9, 2002 special meeting <br />• Request from General Robert E. Lee Camp #803 to fly the First National <br />Confederate Flag at the Lee County Courthouse on Sunday, January 19, <br />2003 <br />
