LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />PROCLAMATION <br />July is Parks and Recreation Month <br />Whereas, parks, greenways, and open space provide a welcome respite from our fast -paced, high-tech lifestyles <br />while protecting and preserving our natural environment and, <br />Whereas, parks, nature trails, open spaces, community and cultural centers, historic sites and playgrounds make <br />a community an attractive and desirable place to live, work, play, and visit, and contribute to our economic <br />vitality, and <br />Whereas, these facilities contribute to our efforts to improve the quality of life in North Carolina and in our <br />community by preserving open space and promoting an appreciation of our state's natural resources, and <br />Whereas, parks, recreation activities and leisure experiences provide opportunities for young people to live, <br />grow, and develop into contributing members of society, and <br />Whereas, parks and recreation create lifelines and opportunities to continue life experiences for older members <br />of our community, and <br />Whereas, parks and recreation agencies provide outlets for physical activities, socialization, and stress -reducing <br />experiences, and contribute to a sense of community, and <br />Whereas, parks and recreation agencies touch the lives of individuals, families, groups, and the entire <br />community with positive impacts upon the social, economic, health and environmental quality of our <br />community, <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Lee County Board of Commissioners proclaim July as Parks and <br />Recreation Month and encourage all citizens to celebrate by participating in their choice of pleasurable <br />activities to find refreshment in their leisure. <br />Dated this 17'h day of July, 2017. <br />Amy M.
