bco;: 9 PACE 89 <br />Commissioner Adams discussed with the board the county owned uptown parking <br />deck off Wicker Street. County Manager William Cowan told the board that maintenance <br />staff had evaluated repairs needed on the parking deck in March 2002, with two major <br />problems noted. He told the board that the expansion joints have deteriorated causing <br />corrosion underneath to the decking and girders. The second problem is the handrails do <br />not provide enough safety around the top perimeter of the deck. An estimated cost of <br />$20,000 would be needed to repair the joints, 52,500 to install a 4' high fence around the <br />lot, and $30,000 to gravel the vacant lot across the street from the Parks and Recreation <br />Office. After some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to declare the parking deck <br />surplus and sell. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chainnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Lesa Price from the MIS Department and Brenda Potts from Social Services gave <br />the board updates on their departments. <br />County Manager William Cowan told the board that the swearing-in ceremony for <br />new and re-elected Commissioners would be held at 9:00 o'clock a.m. on Monday, <br />December 2, 2002, in Courtroom #4 at the old Lee County Courthouse. A reception will <br />follow in the new courthouse and the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners will <br />begin at 11:00 o'clock a.m. at the Government Center. <br />Commissioner Reives moved that a resolution be drafted and presented to <br />Commissioner John Sauls for his four-years of service on the board at the December 2"d <br />ceremony. Upon a vote, the results were be as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Vice Chairman Sauls recessed the meeting till 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br />The meeting resumed at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in Courtroom # 4 at the old Lee County <br />Courthouse for advertised public hearings with the Lee County Planning Board. <br />Vice Chairman Sauls opened the meeting. <br />All Commissioners were present except Commissioners Hincks and Matthews. <br />Vice Chairman Sauls opened the first public hearing for the consideration of an <br />amendment to the Lee County Zoning Ordinance to allow the development of court ordered <br />5 <br />
