a o, ~9 racc 57 <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve a 2% cost-of-living increase for all <br />county employees effective January 1, 2003. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered State-granted bonus leave for employees at the Cooperative <br />Extension Office. Extension Director Susan Condlin told the board that the State was <br />offering a provision for a special annual leave bonus of 80 hours for State employees. <br />This request is based on the State of North Carolina General Assembly's final budget that <br />has approved eighty (80) hours to all employees subject to the State Personnel Act. Mrs. <br />Condlin told the board that the county is being asked to pay 45% of the cost if the <br />employee leaves their position. After some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to <br />approve participation in the special annual leave bonus of 80 hours but not to pay the <br />45% if.an employee leaves their position. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the board the following Capital <br />Expenditures: <br />• Lee Senior High School HVAC replacement $1,568,566 <br />• Heins Education Building roof replacement 47,500 <br />• Industrial Park expansion 761,000 <br />• Three (3) additional Sheriff's Department vehicles 67,000 <br />• Jail van 24,000 <br />• High School Park project (50% matching funds) 500,000 <br />• Wicker School project 200,000 <br />• Sanford-Lec County Rescue Squad 40,000 <br />• Planning and Inspection relocation to Makepeace Street <br />building 67,000 <br />• 1% bonus for county employees paid in December 2002 115,348 <br />4 <br />
