0 0 <br />-'9 mli 37 <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Emergency Management Director Warren Lee gave the board an update on his <br />department. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the board several pending requests <br />for additional funding from the Lee County Board of Education and Central Carolina <br />Community College. After some discussion, the board directed Mr. Cowan to present to <br />the board at the next meeting options and recommendations on how to fund these <br />additional requests. No action was taken on the matter. <br />Chairman Hincks recessed the meeting until 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br />The meeting resumed at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in Courtroom 94 at the old Lee County <br />Courthouse, 1400 S. Horner Blvd., with all members present. Chairman Hincks called the <br />meeting to order and opened the first advertised public hearing. <br />James Estes, Domestic Violence Investigator told the board this public hearing was <br />required so the Lee County's Sheriffs Office could acquire funds through the Local Law <br />Enforcement Block Grants Program to purchase the following equipment: <br />• Equipment for a new appointment to the Sheriffs Emergency Response <br />Team ($3,160.00) plus one assault riffle ($1,800.00) <br />• Cell phones for two detectives and one civil officer ($1,824.00) <br />• "Stinger Spike" stop sticks to safety stop the fleeing motorist ($1,600.00) <br />• Battery back-up computer ($275.00) <br />1,000 watt portable light (5300.00) <br />• 4,500 watt generator ($1,054.00) <br />• Cell phones and 3 work stations ($1,618.00) <br />• Two portable radios ($1,000.00) <br />Awning for the Sheriff s Mobile Command Center ($1,060.00) <br />• Ten strobe grill lights ($2,300.00) <br />Mr. Estes told the board that grant funds would total $14,392.00 with a county match of <br />$1,599.00, for a total project cost of $15,991.00. <br />No one other than Mr. Estes spoke in favor of the request. <br />No one spoke in opposition to the request. <br />Mr. Hincks closed the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Sauls moved to approve a grant to the Local Law Enforcement <br />Block Grants Program for the Sheriffs Office as presented.
