The board considered a funding request to participate with the City of Sanford and the Town of Broadway in the Cape Fear River Assembly. A total of $2,648 is needed to join the Assembly, with the Town of Broadway contributing $37, City of Sanford $1,527, and Lee County $1,084. Chairman Hincks moved that Lee County not participate in the Cape Fear River Assembly. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls Nay: Matthews The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. The board considered a request to hire a new Lee County Extension Director. Danny Shaw, Interim Lee Comity Extension Director told the board that he recommended Susan Condlin for the position. He also told the board that in compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding, Extension Administration's recommendation needs approval from the Lee County Board of Commissioners before the appointment is considered official. Commissioner Adams moved to accept Mr. Shaw's recommendation to hire Susan Condlin as the new Lee County Extension Director effective September 1, 2002. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: 2
