LUNA IS "-AGE <br />W'i <br />• Proclamation declaring July as Parks and Recreation Month (copy <br />attached) <br />• Tax Releases and Refunds for June 2002 (copy attached) <br />• Petition requesting abandonment of a portion of Bruce Coggins Road (copy <br />attached) <br />• Proclamation declaring August 1-7, 2002 as Breast Feeding Week in Lee <br />County (copy attached) <br />• Request for the County Manager to contact Time Warner about a cable TV <br />franchise <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered a salary increase for Deputy Director of Elections Lynn <br />Ogbum. Human Resource Director Patsy Rogers submitted a survey comparing duties of <br />the Deputy Director from other counties as compared to Lee County. After some <br />discussion, Commissioner Lemmond moved that Deputy Director Lynn Ogburn be <br />increased from Grade 59 to Grade 61. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, and Sauls <br />Nay: Paschal and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />The board considered a recommendation from the Board of Health concerning the <br />proposed new animal control shelter. Health Director Mike Hanes told the board that the <br />Lee County Board of Health voted at their July 10, 2002, meeting to proceed with <br />acquiring suitable property on Brown Road for the construction of an animal control <br />facility. He told the board that the Board of Health did not wish to continue to rely on the <br />quarter-to-quarter contract we currently have with Chatham County. After some <br />discussion, Commissioner Adams moved to accept the recommendation of the Board of <br />Health to purchase land on Brown Road for $45,000, construct a new facility, and extend <br />the current contract with Chatham County for an additional nine months. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />2 <br />
