BU l~ 3.V PAGE v .J <br />MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />JULY 15, 2002 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners <br />present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. <br />Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and John 1. Sauls. <br />Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Rev. David Banks, Pastor of Jonesboro United Methodist Church delivered the <br />invocation and led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The board considered additional agenda items. Commissioner Adams asked that <br />the board discuss a restructuring plan for the Lee County Health Department. <br />Commissioner Reives asked that the County Manager check with Time Warner about a <br />cable TV franchise for Lee County. He also asked that an issue concerning animals at <br />Nickolson and Sanders Roads be discussed. County Manger William Cowan asked that <br />the board consider a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Sub-recipient <br />Agreement with the North Carolina Department of Commerce. Commissioner Paschal <br />moved to approve the agenda with the above additions. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Lemmond moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted <br />of the following items: <br />• Donations of office equipment from The Sanford Rural Development <br />Office <br />• Youth Shelter services contracts with Harnett, Johnston, Orange and <br />Chatham Counties <br />• Blanket purchase orders for food and supplies for the jail for FY 2002-03 <br />
