GL)V 18 mF 878 r" 1 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ATLANTIC & WESTERN RAILWAY COMPANY TO LOCATE A MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA WHEREAS, The Atlantic & Western Railway Company is locating a manufacturing facility on Wilkins Drive, Sanford, North Carolina; and WHEREAS, The Atlantic & Western Railway Company proposes to invest approximately 1 million dollars on the site, not including the purchase of the land, and to employ at least ten to twelve persons when the company is fully operational; and WHEREAS, The Atlantic & Western Railway Company's plans are consistent with local land use and state and local transportation plans, and conform to all applicable state and local ordinances and policies. WHEREAS, Lee County is committed to work with the NCDOT in a leadership role to make transportation improvements that address the safety needs of the public, and contractors and employees of The Atlantic & Western Railway Company. G 3 4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board of Commissioners: Section 1: Lee County supports the location of The Atlantic & Western Railway Company in Lee County, and confirms that its plans are consistent with and confonn to State and local laws, plans and policies. Section 2: Lee County endorses the application of The Atlantic & Western Railway Company to request financial support from the North Carolina Department of Transportation to assist in the funding of a rail industrial access track. Section 3: The Lee County Board of Commissioners commits to work with the NCDOT to make needed transportation improvements necessary to protect the safety of the public, and contractors and employees of The Atlantic & Western Railway Company.
