aCOY 18 raCF 847 <br />• Appointment of Ron Huber to the Lee County Local Emergency Planning <br />Committee (LEPC) <br />• Proclamation of appreciation to honor the Nursing Home and Adult Care <br />Home Community Advisory Committee (copy attached) <br />• Resolution honoring John Hall for 33 years of service as County Extension <br />Director (copy attached) <br />• Budget amendment 9051201021#21 (copy attached) <br />• Proposal with BB&T for banking services <br />• Letter of credit for Cottage Village II Subdivision at Carolina Trace <br />• Letter of appreciation to Interim School Superintendent Allen Johnson (copy <br />attached) <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Paschal read and presented a resolution of appreciation to Extension <br />Director John Hall who will be retiring June 1, 2002. <br />Judi Marsh thanked all Commissioners that assisted as volunteers for the Sanford <br />Pottery Festival and told the board that next year's festival is scheduled for May 2-4, 2003. <br />Commissioner Reives discussed with the board "land locked" property located off <br />Key Road belonging to Robert Moretz. He told the board that the property was obtained by <br />court order and that Mr. Moretz now wishes to develop the property but cannot do so <br />because it does not meet the subdivision requirements. Mr. Reives stated that the Planning <br />Board has studied the matter and denied a request to subdivide and develop the land. Mr. <br />Reives asked that Planning staff meet with Planning Board members to study the matter <br />again and report back to the board with a recommendation. No action was taken on the <br />matter. <br />The board considered a proposal for health insurance coverage for the next fiscal <br />year from Taylor Uzzell. Mr. Uzzell told the board that even though CIGNA's quote for a <br />reduced coverage plan is based on a 29.9% increase over our current premium, he feels that <br />it is the best option for Lee County. He further told the board that considering the ongoing <br />claims situations that currently exist; he does not feel that it would be a wise move to <br />switch to a self-insured plan for the upcoming year. After some discussion, Commissioner <br />Sauls moved to approve Mr. Uzzell's recommendation to contract with CIGNA for health <br />insurance for 2002-2003.
