0 Ei ON 18 P.ou 855 A PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Lee County, North Carolina that the Zoning Ordinance be, and it hereby is, amended as follows: Section 1. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS, Section 3. General Regulations by deleting the second sentence in item f) that reads as follows: "The Planning Administrator may grant a temporary permit for banners, pennants, and the like to be displayed within a public right-of-way, provided that such devices shall be used only for messages of a public service nature, such as announcements of charity fund campaigns, conventions, etc., and provided that no such temporary permit shall be valid for more than thirty (30) days." Item f) will read in its entirety as follows: "f) No signs of any nature, except signs erected for orderly traffic control, signs marking sites of historical interest, and signs for other governmental purposes, shall be permitted within any public right- of-way." Section 2. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS, Section 6. Sign Regulations Applicable to Commercial and Industrial Districts, item (c) Root, Marquee Signs, by deleting "Roof Sign" as a permitted use. Item c) will read in its entirety as follows: "c) Marquee Signs: No marquee sign shall exceed one hundred (100) square feet in area." Section 3. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS, Section 6. Sign Regulations Applicable to Commercial and Industrial Districts, by inserting the text below in italics with underline to the paragraph following item (d) of this section. The revised paragraph will read in its entirely as follows: "Outdoor advertising signs (off premises signs) are not allowed in the CS District but may be erected in the HC, LI, and Hl Districts. Where erected, outdoor advertising signs shall not be located within one hundred (100) feet of any residential district, and shall not be located within one hundred (100) feet of the principal use or off-street parking areas. There shall be a minimum radius between any two-(2) outdoor advertising sings of one thousand (1,000) linear feet. Dimensions of outdoor advertising signs shall not exceed three hundred (300) square feet per sign area. No sign structure shall support more than one (1) sign, as defined in Article IV." Section 4. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS by adding a new Section 7. Prohibited Signs and Devices and a new Subsection 7.1 Definitions. Section 7 and 7.1 in its entirety will read as follows: 1 of4
