0 Ei ON 18 P.ou 855 <br />A PROPOSED ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Lee County, North Carolina that the Zoning <br />Ordinance be, and it hereby is, amended as follows: <br />Section 1. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS, Section 3. <br />General Regulations by deleting the second sentence in item f) that reads as follows: <br />"The Planning Administrator may grant a temporary permit for banners, pennants, and the like to <br />be displayed within a public right-of-way, provided that such devices shall be used only for messages of <br />a public service nature, such as announcements of charity fund campaigns, conventions, etc., and <br />provided that no such temporary permit shall be valid for more than thirty (30) days." <br />Item f) will read in its entirety as follows: <br />"f) No signs of any nature, except signs erected for orderly traffic control, signs marking sites of <br />historical interest, and signs for other governmental purposes, shall be permitted within any public right- <br />of-way." <br />Section 2. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS, Section 6. <br />Sign Regulations Applicable to Commercial and Industrial Districts, item (c) Root, Marquee Signs, by <br />deleting "Roof Sign" as a permitted use. <br />Item c) will read in its entirety as follows: <br />"c) Marquee Signs: No marquee sign shall exceed one hundred (100) square feet in area." <br />Section 3. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS, Section 6. <br />Sign Regulations Applicable to Commercial and Industrial Districts, by inserting the text below in italics <br />with underline to the paragraph following item (d) of this section. The revised paragraph will read in its <br />entirely as follows: <br />"Outdoor advertising signs (off premises signs) are not allowed in the CS District but may be <br />erected in the HC, LI, and Hl Districts. Where erected, outdoor advertising signs shall not be <br />located within one hundred (100) feet of any residential district, and shall not be located within <br />one hundred (100) feet of the principal use or off-street parking areas. There shall be a <br />minimum radius between any two-(2) outdoor advertising sings of one thousand (1,000) linear <br />feet. Dimensions of outdoor advertising signs shall not exceed three hundred (300) square feet <br />per sign area. No sign structure shall support more than one (1) sign, as defined in Article IV." <br />Section 4. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article X SIGNS by adding a <br />new Section 7. Prohibited Signs and Devices and a new Subsection 7.1 Definitions.
