!r <br />o;; ~8 P~cF 791 <br />Public Works Director Kenny Cole discussed with the board a space needs study <br />that was completed last year involving the Lee County Health Department and Social <br />Services. No action was taken. <br />Mr. Cole gave a report concerning in-house maintenance that includes <br />housekeeping, grounds maintenance, and building maintenance. <br />Mr. Cole also discussed with the board water rates for county customers. He told <br />the board that lie would be adding an additional 1,300 customers to the water system in <br />July. <br />The board discussed the vacant Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) building off <br />Carbonton Road. Mr. Cowan was directed to dispose of the building as soon as possible or <br />implement a use for it. <br />Commissioner Reives ask for a list of positions that have been filled in the last <br />eighteen months. <br />Commissioner Reives instructed Mr. Cowan to ask all departments, including the <br />schools and community college, for an impact statement on how a 5% reduction to their <br />budget would affect their department and for the Commissioners to meet with all <br />department heads to discuss this matter. <br />The board discussed the San-Lee Humane Society. Commissioner Adams is to <br />contact Humane Society board members and see if they would like to meet with the <br />Commissioners at the next meeting on April 1, 2002. <br />Riley Godley, Cary E-911 Director, discussed with the board an EMD program for <br />Sanford and Lee County. No action was taken. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to adjourn the meeting.
