After some discussion, the board by consensus <br />recommended that the Lee County Fund Balance not go below 15%. Mr. Reives requested <br />a list of all reserve accounts that could be tapped into if needed. <br />The board discussed budget increases for the schools and community college. After <br />some discussion, the general consensus of the board was to give the schools no additional <br />increase over last year's request. <br />At this time the following members from the Sanford City Counsel and <br />representatives from the Town of Broadway met with the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners for lunch: <br />CITY OF SANFORD BROADWAY <br />Mayor Winston Hester <br />City Manager Leonard Barefoot <br />Councilman Clawson Ellis <br />Councilman J. Kirkman <br />Councilman James Williams <br />Councilman Walter NcNeil, Jr. <br />Councilman Linwood Mann <br />Councilman Joe Martin <br />Councilman Phil Dusenbury <br />Mayor Harold Harrington <br />Town Manager Bob Stevens <br />Commissioner Amy Stevens <br />After Iunch,Community Development Director Bob Bridwell and staff members <br />discussed the joint Unified Development Ordinance and answered questions. After this <br />discussion, City and Broadway representatives left the meeting. <br />Discussion continued concerning various budget matters. After further discussion, <br />the board requested that Mr. Cowan present reconunendations for proposed budget and <br />program cuts at the April 15, 2002, meeting. <br />Economic Development Director Bob Heuts and Engineer John Dixon gave the <br />board an update on improvements for expansion of the new industrial park. <br />Tax Administrator Roger Kelley discussed with the board the upcoming 2003 <br />revaluation project. He told the board to expect many telephone calls after the notices of <br />value are mailed to property owners. He also asked that the board begin consideration on <br />how they wish to set the Board of Equalization and Review up for next year. The board <br />itself may set as members of the Board of E & R or they can appoint someone from the <br />general public. After some discussion, Mr. Kelley was instructed to contact current <br />members of the Board of E & R to see how many would be interested in serving on the <br />board again next year. No action was taken. <br />
