G0 <br />i8 Face 7 1 G <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered bids for the construction of a new animal shelter. County <br />Manager William Cowan told the board that two bids had been received for this project <br />and that be and Public Works Director Kenny Cole recommended that the low bid from <br />Sanford Metal Building be accepted. After some discussion, Commissioner Adams <br />moved to accept the low bid of $198,767.00 from Sanford Metal Building for the new <br />animal shelter and to move forward with the project. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chainnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered a request from the City of Sanford to dispose of a county <br />owned water tank. County Manager William Cowan told the board that the Clawson <br />Williams water tank near Coty was no longer being used by the City of Sanford and they <br />have requested that the County dispose of this tank. After some discussion, Chairman <br />Hincks moved that the tank be declared surplus and the Public Works Director solicit <br />bids to have the tank removed. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lennnond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chainnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered an agreement between the County of Lee and the N.C. <br />Rural Economic Development Center, Inc. County Manager William Cowan told the <br />board that The Rural Internet Access Authority (RIAA) was offering initiative support to <br />North Carolina communities to make the transition to a connected future. He told the <br />board that the E-Communities Program wilt make awards of 510,000 in each of the 85 <br />rural North Carolina counties that choose to undertake a Phase 1 E-Communities planning <br />effort. Central Carolina Community College will be the representative for Lee County <br />and the County of Lee will act as the fiscal agent for the project. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the agreement between the County of Lee and <br />the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center, Inc. for the above services. Upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lennnond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Library Director Mike Matochik and Human Resources Director Patsy Rogers <br />gave the board updates on their departments. <br />4 <br />
