COGX J8 PAGE 7 ~ O O i <br />MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE <br />COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />JANUARY 22, 2002 <br />J <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County <br />Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners <br />present were W. Chad Adams, Herbert A. Hincks, Jerry M. Lemmond, Bertha L. <br />Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, and John I. Sauls. <br />Chairman Hincks presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Rev. Tom Loftis delivered the invocation. <br />Commissioner Ed Paschal led the pledge of allegiance. <br />The board considered additional agenda items. Commissioner Matthews asked <br />that the board send a letter of support for grants that the Hispanic Task Force is applying <br />for. Chairman Hincks asked that the board hold a public hearing involving the 2002 <br />Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that had been left off the agenda. <br />Commissioner Adams asked that the board consider a proclamation for Jaycee Week, and <br />County Manager William Cowan asked that the board consider an agreement between the <br />County of Lee and N.C. Rural Economic Development Center, Inc. Commissioner <br />Matthews moved to approve the agenda with the above additions. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Sauls <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Lemmond moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted <br />of the following items: <br />• Minutes of the January 7, 2002 regular meeting <br />• Permission for the Sheriffs Office to apply to the Governor's Crime <br />Commission for grant money in the amount of $31,976 <br />
