OK -4.9 Fact 7'_8 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Commissioners of Lee County, North Carolina that the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina be, and it hereby is, amended as follows: Section 1. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article Y, Signs, Section 3. General Regulations, by deleting Item (b) in its entirety which states, "All signs shall be subject to the mininmm front, side, and rear yard requirements and the height restrictions pertaining to the district in which said signs are located", and by adding new regulations for Item (b) as follows: "(b) All signs shall be located outside of the street right-of-way and site triangles, as defined by NCDOT, unless otherwise specified. Signs in residential zoning districts shall not exceed 8 feet in height." Section 2. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lec County, North Carolina, Article Z, Signs, Section 6 Sign Regulations Applicable to Commercial and Industrial Districts by adding the following sentence in bold italics to the paragraph for Outdoor Advertising Signs (off- premises signs). The paragraph will not read in its entirety as follows: "Outdoor advertising signs (off-premises signs) are not allowed in the CS District but may be erected in the HC, LI, and Hl Districts. Where erected, outdoor advertising signs shall not be located within one hundred (100) feet of any residential district and shall not be located within one hundred (100) feet of the principal use or off-street parking areas. Thcrc shall be a minimum radius between any two-(2) outdoor advertising signs of one thousand (1,000) linear feet. Dimensions of outdoor advertising signs shall not exceed three hundred (300) square feet per sign area. No sign structure shall support more than one (1) sign, as defined in Article IV. All off- premise signs shall conform to the building setback and yard requirements of the district in which they are located " Section 3. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article IV, Interpretation of Words and Terms, Section 2. Definitions by adding in alphabetical order the following definition: "Site Triangle. The atea that establishes a clear line of sight for awaiting vehicle to see oncoming traffic and make turning movements into or out of a street or driveway connection safely or for traffic to see entering or waiting." Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in fill force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
