OK -4.9 Fact 7'_8 <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE <br />OF LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Commissioners of Lee County, North Carolina that <br />the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina be, and it hereby is, amended as <br />follows: <br />Section 1. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article Y, Signs, <br />Section 3. General Regulations, by deleting Item (b) in its entirety which states, "All signs <br />shall be subject to the mininmm front, side, and rear yard requirements and the height <br />restrictions pertaining to the district in which said signs are located", and by adding new <br />regulations for Item (b) as follows: <br />"(b) All signs shall be located outside of the street right-of-way and site triangles, as <br />defined by NCDOT, unless otherwise specified. Signs in residential zoning districts <br />shall not exceed 8 feet in height." <br />Section 2. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lec County, North Carolina, Article Z, Signs, <br />Section 6 Sign Regulations Applicable to Commercial and Industrial Districts by adding the <br />following sentence in bold italics to the paragraph for Outdoor Advertising Signs (off- <br />premises signs). The paragraph will not read in its entirety as follows: <br />"Outdoor advertising signs (off-premises signs) are not allowed in the CS District but <br />may be erected in the HC, LI, and Hl Districts. Where erected, outdoor advertising <br />signs shall not be located within one hundred (100) feet of any residential district and <br />shall not be located within one hundred (100) feet of the principal use or off-street <br />parking areas. Thcrc shall be a minimum radius between any two-(2) outdoor <br />advertising signs of one thousand (1,000) linear feet. Dimensions of outdoor <br />advertising signs shall not exceed three hundred (300) square feet per sign area. No <br />sign structure shall support more than one (1) sign, as defined in Article IV. All off- <br />premise signs shall conform to the building setback and yard requirements of <br />the district in which they are located " <br />Section 3. Amend the Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina, Article IV, <br />Interpretation of Words and Terms, Section 2. Definitions by adding in alphabetical order <br />the following definition: <br />"Site Triangle. The atea that establishes a clear line of sight for awaiting vehicle to <br />see oncoming traffic and make turning movements into or out of a street or driveway <br />connection safely or for traffic to see entering or waiting." <br />Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in fill force and effect from and after the date of its <br />adoption. <br />
