Commissioner Matthews questioned Tax Administrator Kep <br />Kepley as to why several churches were listed on the foreclosure list. Mr. Kepley stated <br />that since he was new in the department, he would have to research the matter. After <br />some discussion, Commissioner Matthews moved to approve foreclosure proceedings on <br />2001 delinquent real estate with the exception of the churches mentioned during <br />discussion and for Mr. Kepley to report his findings at the January meeting. Upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Ave: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered bids received for replacing the roof at the Suzanne B. <br />Reeves Library on Hawkins Avenue. Public Works Director Kenny Cole told the Board <br />that the following bids had been received: <br />BIRS, Inc. 5100,812 <br />Greensboro, NC <br />McRae Roofing $112,227 <br />Asheboro, NC <br />T. R. Dristoll, Inc. S165,000 <br />Lumberton, NC <br />Garner Roofing No Bid <br />Sanford, NC <br />Commissioner Matthews questioned how the bid process was handled for this project. <br />Mr. Cole told the Board that this was an informal bid therefore: it was not advertised in <br />the newspaper. He stated that vendors were contacted by phone to see if they would be <br />interested in submitting a bid. After some discussion, Commissioner Matthews moved to <br />accept the low bid firom BIRS, Inc. to replace the roof at the Lee County Library for <br />5100,812.
