<br />Plumbing system includes the water supply and distribution pipes, plumbing fixtures, supports and
<br />appurtenances; soil, waste and vent pipes; sanitary drains and building sewers to an approved point of
<br />disposal-
<br />Premises shall mean a lot, plot or parcel of land, including the buildings or structures thereon.
<br />Public areas/space shall mean that space within or about any structure which is open to use or access
<br />by the general public.
<br />Public authority shall mean any public authority for housing or any officer who is in charge of any
<br />department, or branch of the government of Lee County or the State of North Carolina relating to health,
<br />fire, building regulations, or other activities concerning dwellings or buildings in the county.
<br />Residential building shall mean any building or structure, or portion thereof, which is used, or
<br />designed or intended to be used for human habitation including living, sleeping, cooking and eating or any
<br />combination thereof.
<br />Removal shall mean the demolition and removal of the entire structure, leaving the property free and
<br />clean of debris, and without holes or pockets which may retain water.
<br />Rooming house shall mean any dwelling, or that part of any dwelling containing one or more rooming
<br />units, in which space is let by the owner or operator to three (3) or more persons who are not members of
<br />the family of the owner or operator.
<br />Rooming unit shall mean any room or group of rooms forming a single habitable unit used or intended
<br />to be used for living and sleeping, but not for cooking or eating purposes.
<br />Rubbish shall mean combustible and noncombustible waste materials, except garbage. The term shall
<br />include, but not be limited to: combustible material, wood, paper, rags, cartons, boxes, tires, mattresses,
<br />tree branches, yard trimmings, metals, glass, crockery, fumiture or appliances stored in the open which are
<br />not intended for outdoor use, and including immobilized vehicles or parts thereof.
<br />Story shall mean that portion of a building included between the upper surface of any floor and the
<br />upper surface of the floor or roof next above.
<br />Structure shall mean that which is built or constructed, an edifice or building of any kind, or any piece
<br />of work artificially built up or composed of parts joined together in some definite manner. The term
<br />structure shall be construed as if followed by the words "or part thereof."
<br />Substandard shall mean any condition existing in any housing or structure which does not meet the
<br />standards of fitness of this code.
<br />Temporary housing shall mean any tent, trailer or other structure which is designed to be
<br />transportable, and which is not attached to the ground, to another structure, or to any utility system on the
<br />same premises for more than thirty (30) consecutive days-
<br />Tenant means a person, co-partnership, firm or corporation occupying or using a building, premises or
<br />any part or parts thereof owned by another-
<br />Unfitfor htnnan habitation means any of those certain conditions that exist as set forth under
<br />Division IV_
<br />Veurilation shall mean the adequate supply and removal of air to cruel from a space through windows,
<br />skylights, doors, louvers, grills, duds or other simular devices.
