local business that allows trucks to begin hauling at 4:00 a.m. She asked that the Clerk <br />obtain a copy of Harnett County's ordinance that regulates howl of operation for sand <br />pits. <br />The Board considered a meeting date for the month of November 2003. <br />Chairman Hincks moved that the Board hold one meeting on Monday, November 10, <br />2003, at 9:00 a.m. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Matthews left the meeting at this time due to her daughter being in <br />the hospital out of town. <br />The Board considered a request from the Northview Volunteer Fire Department to <br />purchase equipment. Roger Millikin, President of the Fire Department told the Board <br />that for the past three years the fire department has been researching and defining new <br />apparatus for their department and they are now ready to release a quote package to <br />Pierce Manufacturing. The department's plans are to have a twenty-year loan of <br />approximately $62,000 per year that will add the current loan balance of S 143,000, with a <br />S30,000 down payment, for a total loan amount of $833,500. Mr. Millikin stated that the <br />long-term payment would be about $20,000 less than the current amount earmarked for <br />new purchases. After some discussion, Chairman Hincks moved to approve the purchase <br />of new equipment and pumping apparatus with a twenty-year loan. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Matthews <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from the Board of Elections office for pay <br />increases for precinct workers. Elections Director Kim Butts asked that the Board <br />approve the following pay increases: <br />Current Salarv Requested Salary <br />Chief Judge $120.00 $200.00 <br />Judge S100.00 $150.00 <br />Assistants $ 80.00 $110.00 <br />County Manager William Cowan told the Board that Human Resources Director Patsy <br />Rogers had researched the proposed salary increases with surrounding counties and <br />4 <br />
