uO,OK 19 P,CF j <br />Ode aree TountL uard of Tommissioners <br />resolution <br />WHEREAS, William "Bill" Pretty, who unselfishly dedicated twenty-five years of service to Lee Counq <br />with great distinction and success, passed away on September 28, 2003; and, <br />WHEREAS, William "Bill" (Grit) Pretty, Jr. was born in Wake County on November 11, 1943, graduated <br />from Shaw University in 1965, was married to Mildred Southerland Pretty, and was the father of two sons, Reginald <br />and Furney; and <br />WHEREAS, William "Bill" Pretty was o longtime businessman and local benefactor of the community, <br />particularly in helping young people, and was a valuable servant and friend to our local Boy's and Girl's Club; and <br />WHEREAS, William "Bill" Pretty served on several boards including Shaw University Board of Trustees, <br />Lee County Industrial Corporation, Board of Associates of Meredith College, Shaw University Divinity School, Lee <br />County Parks and Recreation Foundation, Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce, Lee County Industries, Board of <br />Trustees of First Calvary Baptist Church, CEAD (Citizens for ElTeetive Actions and Decisions), YMCA Board, <br />Sanford Ibtasonic Lodge #101, former member of the Sanford-Lee County Airport Authority, past Chairman of the <br />Sanford Housing Authority, past Chairman of Provisions .Academy, Charter School Board of Directors, Member of <br />NBMOA (National Black McDonald's Owners Association) and owner and operator of McDonald's of Sanford, North <br />Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, William "Bill" Pretty was a mcmbet of the Rotary Club and a coach for the 13-year old Babe <br />Ruth League for Lee County Parks and Recreation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of Commissioners hereby honors the <br />memory of William "Bill" Picity for a life of outstanding semce, conoibution and commendable leadership to his <br />community. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners as a permanent record of the achievements of and respect for one of Lee County's outstanding citizens, <br />and that the original be presented to the family of William "Bill" Pretty with sincere sympathy and appreciation. <br />Adopted this the 6" day of October 2003. <br />Herbert A.
