500K 19 PAGE 570 <br />The Board discussed a recent letter received from the Area Home Builders <br />Association concerning Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) matters. Community <br />Development Director Bob Bridwell answered questions from the Board and stated that <br />his department is working on concerns expressed by the Area Home Builders <br />Association. <br />Public Works Director Kenny Cole gave the Board an update on water flushing <br />issues with the City of Sanford. Mr. Cole told the Board that during the past month, 15 <br />million gallons of water was flushed with the County being charged S28,000. Mr. Cole <br />further stated that County residents use 13 to 15 million gallons of water a month. <br />Previously the Board agreed to pay the City of Sanford 75 percent of flushing costs, <br />understanding that the amount would be approximately 55 million gallons per year. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved for County Manager William <br />Cowan and Public Works Director Kenny Cole to send a letter to City Manager Leonard <br />Barefoot addressing concerns of notification of flushing water and any other concerns <br />they had. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an appointment to the Nursing Home and Rest Home <br />Advisory Board. Commissioner Reives moved to accept the application from Robert <br />Groomc to fill the un-expired tenn of Rebecca Hunter on the Nursing Home and Rest <br />Home Advisory Board. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board held a public hearing concerning an economic development project <br />that had been advertised for this date and time concerning The Challenge Printing <br />Company. Economic Development Director Bob HCUts asked that the Board consider an <br />agreement to retrofit a building located in the Lee County Industrial Park and the <br />installation of equipment for The Challenge Printing Company. Mr. Heats told the Board <br />that The Challenge Printing Company was founded in 1922 in New York City and is a <br />major supplier to pharmaceutical manufacturers. They are currently located in Broadway <br />and need to expand its operations from the current 12,000 square foot building to a larger <br />facility of at least 30,000 square feet. Mr. Heats stated that equipment would be <br />purchased at Sl million dollars and an additional Sl million would be purchased in two <br />years. Currently, the company employs 25 people and is anticipated to grow to 35 <br />6 <br />
