6GOX i.9 PICE 49:3 <br />(2) Water Rate Increase - Increase water rate from $2.36/1,000 gallons to <br />$2.53/1,000 gallons <br />(3) Water Maintenance Rate Increase - Increase maintenance rate from <br />$1.48/1,000 gallons to $1.89/1,000 gallons <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lennnond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chainnan ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives told the Board that the City of Sanford had recently <br />installed five (5) meters in the city and sixty-one (61) meters on the county lines. The <br />city had requested the county pay 50% of the meter installation and 100% of the water <br />flushed. The Ad Hoc Water Committee recommended the county pay 50% of the meter <br />installation and 75% of the flushing of water. After much discussion, Commissioner <br />Stevens moved that the county pay 50% of the meter installation and 50% of the water <br />flushing for the 61 meters in the county. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Paschal, and Stevens <br />Nay: Lemmond, Matthews, and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a four to three vote. <br />Commissioner Lemmond moved to go into closed session to (1) consider <br />conditions of initial employment of a prospective public employee, and (2) consider <br />personnel action that involves an employee of the Board. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />After completing business in closed session, Chairman Hincks moved to go out of <br />closed session. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Hincks moved that the Lee County Board of Commissioners accept the <br />County Manager's letter stating his intentions to retire effective June 30, 2004, and allow <br />him to use accumulated vacation leave as credits toward retirement which will make his <br />8 <br />
