G~OX 19 P.AGE 47 <br />CITY OF SANFORD WATER SHORTAGE ORDINANCE JULY 30, 2003 <br />-Filling and operation of recreational swimming pools that serve fewer <br />than 25 dwellings <br />-Non-commercial washing of motor vehicles <br />-Serving water in indoor commercial establishments, except by specific <br />request. <br />-Air Conditioning: refilling cooling towers after draining except as <br />specified in Class 1 <br />Public Use: <br />-Fire Hydrants: any purpose, including use of sprinkler caps and testing <br />fire apparatus and for fire department drills, except as listed in Class 1 <br />-Flushing of Sewers and Hydrants except as listed in Class 1. <br />DIVISION 11. STAGES OF WATER SHORTAGE <br />Sec. Declaration of Voluntary Conservation <br />Voluntary Conservation is needed when stream lows are consistently below <br />seasonal nouns, and continued dry conditions are forecast, or when the usable <br />water supply storage of the raw water reservoir is less than 80%. <br />Whenever the Public Works Director finds there is a potential water shortage, the <br />City Manager, or his Designee, shall be empowered to declare that Voluntary <br />Conservation conditions exist. and that the Public Works Director shall monitor <br />the supply and demand of treated water daily and advise the City Managcr of the <br />need to increase water conservation measures to the next stage, or cancel the <br />Voluntary Conservation directive if it is no longer needed. <br />A notification shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the <br />water distribution system area advising the public of the water shortage situation. <br />When Voluntary Conservation is declared, use of water I}otn the public water <br />system supplied by the City of Sanford is discomagcd for the following purposes: <br />a. 'I'o water lawns, grass, shrubbery, trees, flower and vegetable gardens except <br />as follows: <br />1. If your address ends in an odd number, watering can be done on odd- <br />numbered calendar days.
