<br />AGREEMENT
<br />COUNTY OF LEE
<br />THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into as of the 2nd day of June,
<br />2003, by and between the COUNTY OF LEE, one of the counties of the State of North
<br />Carolina and a body both politic and corporate under the laws of the State of North
<br />Carolina, hereinafter referred to as the "COUNTY", and the BOY'S AND GIRLS CLUB
<br />OF SANFORD/LEE COUNTY, INC., a non-profit corporation chartered under the laws
<br />of the State of North Carolina with its registered office in Sanford, Lee County, North
<br />Carolina, hereinafter referred to as "CLUB";
<br />WITNESSETH:
<br />WHEREAS, the County is the owner of the premises known as the Bob E. Hales
<br />Recreation Center located at 147 McIver Street, Sanford, North Carolina; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Club operates a Boy's and Girl's Club to help youth of all backgrounds,
<br />with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances, develop the qualities
<br />needed to become responsible citizens and leaders irrespective of race, color, creed, or
<br />national origin; and
<br />WHEREAS, the parties have agreed upon joint use of the facility known as the Bob E.
<br />Hales Recreation Center and desire a written memorandum of the terms of such
<br />agreement;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the respective agreements hereunto contained,
<br />the County and the Club agree as follows:
<br />1. Term. The right to exercise the rights and privileges granted hereunder shall be
<br />for the period from Jul), 1, 2003 to June 30, 2006.
<br />2. Consideration. The consideration for this agreement shall be the public service
<br />rendered by the Club in providing recreational and educational programs at a
<br />reasonable rate for all youth of Lee County between the ages of 5 and 18 during
<br />the term of this agreement.
<br />3. Program. The Club shall operate this site as a satellite unit that will serve youth
<br />ages 5-18 five days per week. The unit club shall provide a location where youth
<br />can positively interact with their peers and with adult role models. Trained youth
<br />professionals will provide a variety of programs (i.e., career exploration, conflict
<br />resolution, substance abuse prevention, computer education, intramural sports,
<br />violence prevention, social activities, arts & crafts, tutoring, etc.) with the goal of
<br />instilling in the youth who use the unit club a sense of belonging, a sense of
<br />confidence, a sense of usefulness, and a sense of power and influence.
<br />4. Space. The County will provide space consisting of three offices on the west side
<br />of the building, the stage and two adjoining offices on the north side, one office
<br />on the south side, and the gym area. The County will retain use of the main office
<br />area, Tiny Tots room, gym supervisor's room, and storage areas.
