Commissioner Paschal moved to forgive Sanford Nautilus and Racquetball. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews and Stevens <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had failed with a five to two vote. <br />Commissioner Adams amended his original motion to forgive all late list <br />penalties except Sanford Nautilus and Racquetball. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the board the proposed Capital <br />Improvements Program (CIP) for FY 2003-04/2007-08. He asked that the board <br />schedule a public hearing on the matter concurrent with the budget hearing. Chairman <br />Hincks moved that a public hearing be held on the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) <br />Monday, May 16, 2003, at 5:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter, as can be reached on the <br />agenda. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />'rhe Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board discussed conference room space at the new Lee County Courthouse. <br />After some discussion, Chairman Hincks appointed Commissioner's Bert Matthews and <br />Amy Stevens to meet with County Manager William Cowan and County Attorney K. R. <br />Hoyle to discuss and review space needs at the courthouse and bring a recommendation <br />back to the board at the next meeting on June 16, 2003. <br />Chairman Hincks recessed the meeting to the Gordon Wicker Conference Room <br />for a budget work session. <br />With all members present, Chairman Hincks called the budget work session to <br />order at 10:15 a.m. <br />County Manager William Cowan told the board that lie was proposing a new tax <br />rate of sixty-nine cents (69¢) from the current seventy-eight cents (78¢) per one hundred <br />dollars. He also told the board the line item for incentives in the Economic Development <br />budget would be reduced by 8150,00 from his recommendation in the budget message. <br />3 <br />
