IV <br />i;uOX 19 PS,n 2, 5 <br />RESOLUTION <br />REQUESTING THE SITING OF THE CENTRAL N.C. MENTAL <br />HEALTH HOSPITAL <br />IN <br />CHATHAM COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, geographic accessibility to the service area is one of the key factors <br />in deciding where to locate a mental health facility; and <br />WHEREAS, many mental health patients require frequent transportation <br />assistance, therefore, access to major highways is another important issue; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chatham County site under construction for the Central N.C. <br />Mental Hospital is located in the geographic center of the hospital's service area at the <br />intersection of two major highways, U.S. 64 and U.S. 421; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to its ideal location, this site will further benefit North <br />Carolina taxpayers, as Chatham County has agreed to donate the property, which already <br />has access to water and sewer services: and <br />WHEREAS, location of the facility in Chatham County will also promote a <br />major goal of the state, economic development in rural areas. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners request that the North Carolina General Assembly approve Chatham <br />County as the location for the Central N.C.
