Boon 119 PAGE 91 <br />RESOLUTION TO HOUSE BILL 999 AND SENATE BILL 971 <br />WHEREAS, House Bill 999 and Senate Bill 971 propose an amendment to <br />Article 1 of Chapter 75 of the General Statutes of North Carolina and would make any <br />agreement or contract that prohibits refilling or remanufacturing of toner cartridges or <br />inkjet cartridges void as a matter of public policy; and <br />WHEREAS, many companies in the State of North Carolina and Lee County <br />remanufacture toner cartridges for resale; and <br />WHEREAS, many jobs may be lost in North Carolina if new cartridge <br />manufacturers are allowed to prohibit the refilling or remanufacturing of toner or inkjet <br />cartridges, and <br />WHEREAS, many businesses and consumers in the State of North Carolina <br />depend upon those remanufactured products as a means to save money on <br />remanufactured products (toner cartridges); and <br />WHEREAS, many more cartridges will end up in county land fills if <br />remanufacturing of toner cartridges can be contractually limited; and <br />WHEREAS, remanufactured cartridges are economically better for the <br />preservation of natural resources; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Lee County, North Carolina County Commissioners <br />urge the North Carolina General Assembly to pass ouse Bill 999 and Senate Bill 971. <br />Signed Herbert A.
