(;u <br />No"N 9 PACE '98 <br />M <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The board considered the scheduling of a public hearing for an application of an <br />industrial project in Lee County. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the board that the <br />Lee County Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority wishes to <br />issue revenue bonds in the principal amount of not more than $4,250,000 for the <br />financing of all or a portion of the cost of an industrial project and to submit to the <br />Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Commerce an application for approval of <br />the project if the issuance of the revenue bonds and the nature and location of the project <br />are approved by the Board of County Commissioners. He further stated that the project <br />consists of construction, equipping and furnishing of an approximately 125,000 square <br />foot manufacturing facility for the manufacture of automotive products and equipment to <br />be located at 5915 Elwin Buchanan Drive in the Lee County Industrial Park and will <br />employ approximately 30 new jobs. Commissioner Reives moved to conduct a public <br />hearing on the above matter at the May 5, 2003 meeting at 9:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter <br />as can be reached on the agenda, and to ratify the notice that was published in The <br />Sanford Herald on Sunday, April 20, 2003. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Paschal discussed a water meter concern that had been addressed <br />to him on Carthage Street. <br />Commissioner Lemmond discussed the protocol when citizens call concerning <br />road problems. <br />The board considered an appointment to the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. <br />Youth Services Director Randell Woodruff recommended the appointment of George <br />Bates. Commissioner Adams moved to appoint George Bates to the Lee County Juvenile <br />Crime Prevention Council. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Adams, Hincks, Lemmond, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Stevens <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager William Cowan asked the board's permission to advertise for <br />the soon to be vacant Emergency Management Director's position that will be vacant on <br />May 19, 2003. The board gave Mr. Cowan authorization to proceed with advertising for <br />this position. <br />Commissioner Stevens left the meeting at this time. <br />4 <br />
